In it's pure state, this terpene is a light yellow oil with a fragrance that is earthy and herbal and will not dissolve in water.

Myrcene can be found in the essential oils of bay leaf, cannabis, Cananga Odorata or lylang ylang, thyme, parsley, caroway, dill, fennel, and plants of the genus myrcia, the source of the name of this terpene.

Myrcene in cannabis and common uses

Because of the pleasant aroma, myrcene is often used in detergents, cosmetics and perfumes and air freshners. In the food industry, it is used for fragrance and flavour. 

Furthermore, research in mice has highlighted the muscle-relaxing properties of myrcene. In Germany, myrcene-rich hops has been used as a traditional sleep promoting agent for centuries.

But this terpene is also one of the primary terpenes in cannabis, where it contributes to the plant's aroma. Some researchers suggest a synergie between myrcene and cannabinoids such as THC, resulting in the typical relaxing effects common in Indica strains of weed, such as 'couch lock'.

How to safely handle and use Myrcene Terpene Isolate

• Never ingest indulited terpenes! Always dilute them to 1-2% of the liquid in which it is mixed and never take the entire bottle in one dose

• Store the bottle in a cool and dark place (2 to 8 °C), out of reach of children and pets
• Even though the bottle is made of dark glass which protects the content against UV-light, it is better to store it in a dark place
