At first I tried to be economic with my herb by putting in just a little bit. The problem with this is that the warm air that's supposed to heat up your herb just flows over it and doesn't evenly vaporize it that way. Too much airflow. Just fill the metal screen and if you set the heat to about 170 degrees Celsius it will vaporize your herb just perfectly. You can take a pause every now and then because there's plenty of stuff in the herb chamber to last you for a while. Remember to take a last hit after you just turned it off.
I've used it a couple of times now and I'm getting more and more excited by my purchase.
I think it's perfect when you don't have the money for a Vulcano (yet).

But it's way easier to set the temperature by using the little remote controller. It has five preset temperature buttons (in Fahrenheit), a button to toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, buttons to increase or decrease the temperature by 1 or 10 degrees and of course an on/stand-by button. Pressing the up/down buttons on the front of the vaporizer simultaneously also toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit. You don't need the remote but I think it's very useful.
Before using it the first time, let the unit heat up for about ten minutes without the whip attached. It has to burn off some oily residue from manufacturing. You'll smell it.
In the mean time, grind your buds and put at least enough herb in the chamber so that it will cover the metal screen completely. Gently push it onto the screen with one of the included wooden sticks. In the manual these two sticks are called something fancy but they're just ordinary, wooden skewers (satprikkers). At first I tried to be economic with my herb by putting in just a little bit. This is actually a very nice vaporizer, especially for it's price.
The vaporizer looks like a shrunken car radio and feels very sturdy. It doesn't look fancy and it doesn't have a 'vintage' look. It's simple. Simple is good.
My guess is, if you remove the whip no one will question what it is. It's too boring. Boring is good as well.
It's made of metal, uses a euro-style power lead and, besides a stand-by mode, has a physical on/off switch on the back. When you turn on the unit it shows 'stby' on the lower, red lcd display and the hole for the whip glows blue. Now the unit has power, it's in stand-by mode and ready to heat up to the last set temperature. You can turn it on with the remote control or by pressing a little button on the front of the vaporizer. When it's turned on, it shows the desired temperature in red and the current temperature in green. You can change the temperature on the front with two buttons, pointing up- and downwards, next to the temperature display.
